GAMBRO is a global medical technology company and a leader in developing, manufacturing and supplying products and therapies for Kidney and Liver dialysis, Myeloma Kidney Therapy, and other extracorporeal therapies for Chronic and Acute patients. Gambro was founded in 1964 and has today 7.500 employees, 13 production facilities in 9 countries, and sales in more than 100 countries. The market of dialysis products is divided into two segments: big and stable market of products for chronic dialysis patients and smaller but fast – growing market of products for acute renal diseases. The power of Gambro is based on the hemodialysis products and products for acute renal patients. In the last few years, Gambro specialized in dialysis applications for kidneys and liver and in 2010 sold its’ business for peritoneal dialysis to Fresenius Medical Care. In 1912 dr. Eduard Fresenius in Frankfurt opened a production of pharmaceuticals which in 1966 extended its activities to sales of dialysis machines and dialyzers and gained substantial market share. In 1996 the company was founded by merging Fresenius Worlwide Dialysis and National Medical Care and was put in the stock market. In 2006 the company bought Renal Care Group, Inc. and became the biggest manufacturer of dialysis machines and products in the world. In 2007 they produced its 500 milionth dialyzer. Today Fresenius Medical Care is the american company and one of the biggest worlwide renal therapy manufacturer.
